Check out our photography feature on the Bronx debate team. Their teacher, Erik, is amazing and these kids are the real deal.  SAW

Environmental portraits of the Bronx School for Law Debate Team in a classroom setting with their teacher shot by Stephen Austin Welch.

the Bronx debate team

a bit about this inspirational teacher & his awesome students...

These are photographs of the High School Debate Team and their teacher in the south Bronx, NY. We profiled teacher, Erik Fogel, the Executive Director of the New York City Urban Debate League, who heads up the debate program at the Bronx School for Law. This lesser privileged school is now one of the top debate teams in the country. The debate team was one of just twelve after-school programs to win the 2012 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, which includes a $10,000 award and a trip to visit with First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House. This work stems from the award winning documentary we were hired by Origin to film for the grant program Fund For Teachers.

See the teacher & team on Maslov’s Manhattman blog.

cheers, Stephen

let’s connect:

Hi there. I’m Stephen Austin Welch, a commercial advertising photographer and director. My specialties are capturing authentic lifestyle images,
genuine portraits & graphic still lifes. I also shoot, what I have coined, environments and scapes. See ’em all on my site.

I shoot still photographs & motion spots for ad agencies, creative firms, companies and magazines worldwide.

Call me, SAW, (or my great agent, Norman Maslov — or our adept production company, LIMEY) for the next visual story you want to tell.

We love to shoot!
